Broad Band Light (BBL) is a treatment using the Medical Grade Sciton Joule BBL, a sophisticated form of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) made in the USA. Your skin is treated with selected wavelengths of light from 590nm to 695nm, the wavelength used selectively targets darkly coloured hairs. The Sciton BBL uses a dual flash lamp to deliver uniform square waveform pulses with no hot spots (unlike many alternatives). Sciton BBL has a unique sapphire cooling tip to aid comfort and protect surface skin. This contact cooling tip sets the BBL worlds apart from most light based treatments available, giving you superior results with significantly reduced risk.

Our Registered Nurse Kathleen has been using the Sciton BBL over the last 7 years and is the Australian Clinical Trainer for the Sciton/BBL system for Ionia Medical (Australia).

Kathleen commenced her training in Palo Alto, Silicon Valley, CA, U.S.A.10 years ago, and has recently returned from attending advanced training with Dr Patrick Bitter Jnr MD in Los Gatos, California (a renowned dermatologist in the U.S.A.).

Sciton BBL is an effective treatment for hair reduction, skin rejuvenation, redness, capillaries, birthmarks, benign vascular lesions, benign pigmented lesions (such as those caused by sun damage), freckles, and brown spots. BBL is also a great treatment for managing acne and pimples/breakout. Different wavelengths and parameters are used for specific conditions.

The wavelengths, fluence (energy level), and pulse duration required to treat each skin type and hair type are carefully selected. A unique precision thermoelectric sapphire cooling tip aids comfort and protects the upper surface of the skin during treatments.

Kathleen’s extensive experience is paramount to the results you can achieve. Each treatment is expertly engineered to achieve the desired response.
